Earthing Studies

Safety is the primary function of an earthing system. Earthing systems provide a common ground reference potential for all electrical equipment. Earthing systems also assist in the operation of overcurrent devices during fault conditions. A functioning and well maintained earthing system is essential for the safe operation of electrical distribution systems.

We provide substation earthing design system to comply with IEEE80 standard. We also provide modelling capacity for touch and step voltage.

For existing facilities we conduct a site assessment of the existing earthing protection systems

A detailed report follows with a critical appraisal of the condition, configuration and specification of the existing on site earthing systems. Addressing:

  • The condition of the earthing system systems for each building
  • Compliance of the existing earthing systems with the BS 7430:2011 Code of Practice for protective earthing of electrical installations Standard and the National Rules for Electrical Installations, Fourth Edition ET101:2008
  • Recommend alterations and upgrades and cost estimates to upgrade the existing earthing systems to comply with current Standards
